About the event

Peter S. Goodman is an economics journalist and the Global Economics correspondent for the New York Times. He played a lead role in the paper's award-winning coverage of the Great Recession, including a series that was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. He was previously based in London as the NY Times European Economics correspondent and spent a decade in Shanghai as the Bureau Chief for the Washington Post. His previous book, Davos Man: How the Billionaires Devoured the World was the focus of an earlier Praxis interview with Goodman. Now, he is back with a new book, How the World Ran Out of Everything, which details the extraordinary journey that underlies the world supply chain. As small businesses are crushed by the mega monopolies and massive international shipping of goods (and not-so-good) are polluting our planet, we will get an inside look at how the massive transporting has changed the world -- and what lies in store.

From a review: "From one of the most respected economic journalists working today, How the World Ran Out of Everything is a fiercely smart, deeply informative look at how our supply chain operates, and why its reform is crucial—not only to avoid dysfunction in our day-to-day lives........"
