Join a diverse group of cyclists for a tour on the breathtakingly-beautiful Adriatic Coast of Croatia.

Dates: May 28 to June 3, 2000

This bicycle tour is planned in conjunction with the conference, "Peacebuilding in the 21st Century," to be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia June 4 through 10, 2000.

The bicycle trip will begin in Zadar, a lovely old city on the coast of Croatia and about 250 miles north of Dubrovnik. We will arrive in Dubrovnik two days before the conference begins.

This ride is on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. We will be riding on the coast and on islands, and staying in charming old towns by the water. The participants on the ride will include individuals from the United States, the Balkan region, and other European countries. The purpose of the ride is for us to get to know each other, tell our stories, and build understanding in an atmosphere of adventure and appreciation of natural beauty.

Lodging - Our hotels will range from two to four star categories. Food - Breakfasts and dinners will be included in our lodging packages. We will have lunch in restaurants or on the road. Picnics on the beach is another option.

Riding - We will be riding 30 to 60 miles a day. The terrain will be hilly at times, and roads may not be as well maintained as we are used to here in the states.

Fundraising - We are planning a pledge ride in April to raise money for the trip.

Proposed Trip Itinerary

CROATIA BICYCLE TOUR

May 28 to June 3, 2000

Day 1 ZAGREB - ZADAR Transfer and assistance from Zagreb airport to Zadar (5-6 hours by bus). Dinner and overnight at hotel KOLOVARE in Zadar.

Day 2 ZADAR - SIBENIK Departure from Zadar to Sibenik. Dinner and overnight in Vodice near Sibenik.

Day 3 SIBENIK - SPLIT Departure from Sibenik to Split. Dinner and overnight in Split.

Day 4 SPLIT - HVAR Ferry from Split to Stari Grad on Hvar Island. Bicycling from Stari Grad to Hvar on Hvar Island. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Hvar.

Day 5 HVAR - SUCURAJ Departure from Hvar to Sucuraj. Ferry from Sucuraj, on Hvar Island, to Drvenik, on the coast. Bicycling from Drvenik to Gradac. Dinner and overnight in Gradac.

Day 6 GRADAC - DUBROVNIK Departure from Gradac to Dubrovnik. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 7 DUBROVNIK Free day in Dubrovnik for Dubrovnik city tour, walking on the Old City walls, or just relaxing. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 8 DUBROVNIK Dubrovnik conference begins - "Peacebuilding in the 21st Century." We will cycle to Cavtat, our conference center, about 9 miles south Dubrovnik.

Cost - The cost for the trip, not including airfare or the conference, is expected to be about $500 - $600.

The rate includes:

	Bicycles at our disposal as per the itinerary, from Day 1 to Day 8.
	Accompanying vehicle (for luggage and auxiliary bicycles), driver's board and lodgings included.
	Ferry costs including the rate for transportation of passengers, accompanying vehicle and bicycles.
	Transfer by motor coach and assistance from Zagreb to Zadar, and Day 1 Hotel accommodation on half board basis.
	Bicycle rental (you can bring your own bike and reduce the cost by about $100.).
